If

some articles that were written about me.
I
offer 3 main services: Evaluation, The Process,
and Workshops & Seminars. You can read my
resume here.
The work on finished, scripts, books, plays, etc. is
extensive and in-depth. Once I receive the material
and initial retainer
(2 hours) per piece, there is a 14 day turn around, while
I read and evaluate the material.
Once
I have completed the evaluation, the material will
include a combination of detailed and comprehensive
notes. In addition, I make every effort to call you
as soon as I've finished reading the material. At that
time, we will schedule a time to discuss my analysis.
I
suggest, if you can, to tape record our phone sessions.
After
you've received the edited material, I encourage you
to take a few days before we talk again. This allows
you time to assimilate the notes and make up a list
of specific questions.
There
are usually 2-3 calls, which last anywhere from 15 minutes
to 1 hour. The hourly rate is applied to each call.
We
will go over the notes and brainstorm any and all ideas
for the rewrite. Our time will be spent discussing your
approach for the next draft.
My
goal, as you approach the rewrite, is that you are prepared,
not unaware. This is an intimate process, requiring
a significant commitment on both our parts to bring
your level of writing up to professional standards.
This process offers the individual writer the opportunity
to work one on one with me, from the seed of an idea
to the completed storyboard.
It provides inexperienced and professional writers a fresh way to
acquire new habits of work. We'll learn about the ability
to respond to character voices; how to lift out story
from the people who people our work; and new skills
needed to construct a well-crafted piece of writing.
We
begin with an initial discussion. The purpose here is
to establish our future communication. This conversation
will walk us through the entire process.
Over
the years, the time frame has changed for the process,
so I prefer to leave it open. For the aggressive writer,
this usually takes approximately 3 months, but this
can vary due to the nature of your real world concerns.
Each
time we meet or speak, specific assignments will be
required. You will receive my workbook, wherein each
assignment is designed to construct the building blocks
to help you find the story.
We
will not begin with a premise or an idea, but spend
time on the vital character work found in any great
piece of writing. Character is the map to finding the
story.
By
the end of this process, you will have a 70-90 page
bible with fully fleshed out characters, spelling out
each and every scene of Who, What, Where and Why each
scene is in your
project. This is not an outline or a treatment, but a
detailed accounting of where you plan to go and why.
It is a map that allows you to enjoy the
writing process.
This
disciplined approach allows you to execute the finished
product with authority, conviction and fun. It also
significantly reduces the number of rewrites.

I am available for large and small groups locally, or
long distance.
